Background
QA4SM is a free, interactive, online validation tool for satellite soil moisture data. You can access it at https://qa4sm.eu. The service is currently being developed within ESA’s FRM4SM project, a collaboration between ESA, AWST, CESBIO and TU Wien. The purpose of the service is to provide an easy to use, powerful online platform to evaluate the performance of state-of-the-art satellite soil moisture products with respect to in-situ and reanalysis reference data.
In this workshop, we want to present the idea behind the service, give some technical background and discuss the topic of online validation services in general.
This workshop includes a hands-on session, where we will guide you through the process of running a validation and help you interpret the results. We will ask you for feedback on how the service can be improved and discuss potential goals for future developments in line with community requirements.
